Awards available from the OAA

In keeping with the Scouting tradition of recognizing Scouters for exceptional service to youth, the OAA has developed awards which represent every level of service. From the well-deserved "Thank You" certificate, up to the OAA’s highest award, The Silver Elephant.

1. "Thank You" certificate. Presented to any and all individuals (does not have to be in Scouting) who render service to Scouting. The certificate bears the OAA logo and is presented by a local OAA member or Chapter.

2. "Honored Traveler Award". This is presented to NON-OAA individuals/groups for their assitance and service to the OAA. Local Chapters can present this award, as well as the National OAA Executive Board.

3. "Gold Eagle Award". This is the highest award which can be presented by a local Chapter to one of its fellow members. The ratio is 1 award for every 10 Chapter members.

4. "Honored Chapter Award". Presented to local Chapters which have met the criteria for this award. It signifies outstanding service to their local council and Lodge. The Chapter applies for this award at the time of re-registration.

 

5. "OAA Service Award". Earned by individual OAA members who fulfill a certain number of requirements as indicated on the award form. Download Form.

6. "Turtle Award". Earned by individual OAA members who render service primarily to local lodges. Download Form

 

7. "OAA Centennials Award" - Available for OAA members to earn between 2007 and 2010 in commemoration of Scouting's 100th Anniversary and the BSA's 100th Anniversary. Download Form.
 
8. "The Silver Elephant Award". The highest award made to an individual by the OAA. Candidates must be nominated by their fellow members. Awards are presented at national OAA functions.
